Porcelain veneers are a technique used to correct color and
shape to significantly improve the appearance of a patient’s teeth. This
technique is often recommended as an alternative to crowns when there is sufficient
amount of tooth material left.
Veneers are thin pieces of custom-shaped porcelain or
plastic that are then glued to the front of a patient’s tooth. While veneers
can be a good alternative to crowns because they do not require the removal of
a large amount of the patient’s tooth, in some cases more tooth material may
need to be removed. Dr. Rapp and our team at Advanced Dentistry of Fairfield
County will make an impression of your mouth that we will then use to make custom
veneers designed specifically to fit your teeth. Veneers typically cost less
than crowns, are resistant to staining, and usually last 10 – 15 years.
